The short version: everything you put into Kiana stays on your iPhone. We don't collect it, we can't see it, and we don't share or sell it. There are no accounts, ads or analytics in the app.
Who we are
Kiana is made by Jishaal, an independent developer based in Australia ("we", "us"). If you have a question about privacy, email hello@kianacare.com.
What you store in Kiana
Kiana lets you record health admin: follow-ups and their due dates and notes, medications with tablet counts, doses, pickups and prescription refills, products you're using, and optional progress photos. You may also enter your first name so the app can greet you.
All of this is saved in a database inside the app on your device. Progress photos are resized and saved inside the app's own storage, not in your photo library. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
What we collect
We do not collect any personal information through the app. Kiana has no account system, no server that stores your data, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking tools.
Permissions the app asks for
- Notifications, so Kiana can remind you about follow-ups, medication running low and progress photos. Reminders are scheduled on your phone, not sent from a server.
- Camera, only if you choose to take a progress photo.
- Photos, only if you choose to add a progress photo you already took. Kiana copies the photo you pick and doesn't look at the rest of your library.
You can turn any of these off in your iPhone's Settings. The rest of the app keeps working.
App updates
Kiana checks for small app updates when it opens and downloads them from our update provider, Expo. Like any web request, this involves your device's IP address and basic technical details such as the app version and platform. It doesn't include anything you've stored in Kiana. Expo's own handling is described in the Expo privacy policy.
Apple
When you download Kiana, Apple processes your purchase and download under Apple's privacy policy. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may give us anonymous, aggregated statistics such as crash counts and installs. These never include what you store in Kiana.
Backups and your data
Because your data lives on your phone, it's included in your iCloud or computer backup if you have one turned on, and is handled under Apple's terms for those backups. We have no copy. If you delete Kiana, everything stored in it is deleted from the phone, and we can't recover it.
Health information
What you record in Kiana can be health information. We never use it for advertising or marketing, never sell it, and never share it, because we never receive it. Kiana doesn't connect to Apple Health.
Children
Kiana isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone.
If you email us
If you contact us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply to you, and we delete support emails when they're no longer needed. Please don't send us health details you don't need to.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Kiana handles information, for example by adding an optional backup feature, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change ships.
